Smikes House

Project Description

Smikes House offers two one-bedroom units for income-eligible residents of Whately who are elderly or disabled. The units include full kitchens and baths and laundry hooks ups.

Basic eligibility is determined by income and age or disability status. Income limits are revised periodically. Please contact the Property Management department to confirm the current income limits and to request an application. Applicants must also be residents of Whately at the time they apply.

Waitlist Length
The Smikes House is much smaller than other properties managed by HRA. Vacancies are infrequent and unpredictable.

Application Process: Other Affordable Rental Housing

Further Screening
Once it is determined that a household meets the basic income, status, and/or rent affordability requirements, applicants are further screened in accordance with HRA policy and federal and state fair housing laws. As part of the application process, applicants must authorize HRA to conduct thorough background checks including criminal history and sex offender record information checks, rental history, credit history, and personal references.

Priorities and Preferences
The waiting lists for properties managed by HRA without state assistance are administered on a first-come, first-served basis. No priorities or preferences are available.
